Jobs & Visits
One of our key concepts in TrackTrade - Jobs and Visits. They're similar but not the same so thought we would clear up any doubt in what they mean when using our app.
Job
A container representing a block of work you need done and all relevant info. This includes many things such as:
- A specific description of the work, say Repair the fence,
- The location of the property where the fence is (the site),
- Whose fence it is (the Customer),
- Who will fix or has fixed the fence (your Field Staff),
- a list of Visits,
and more.
The specific details are up to you depending on your business and your needs and the Job concept is flexible so allows for all kinds of work to be represented.
Visit
A Visit is a more specific concept. A Visit repesents a single physical trip that one or more of your contractors (Field Staff) takes to the work site for a Job. It also functions as a container for important info, just not as much as a Job.
It tracks:
- When that trip has been scheduled for (e.g. Tomorrow between 9am and 1pm)
- Who is assigned to go on this Visit (which contractors)
Naturally you can see that a Visit cannot exist without a Job. A Job can initially exist without Visits planned but there must eventually be one or more for the Job to be processed and completed so you can see they are strongly tied together.
When Field Staff are out on site, the app often refers to them being on a Job which, while true, it would be more accurate to say they are on a Visit, at least from the office side of things.
